Koei's Kenji Matsuhara, an executive in charge of the Dynasty Warrior shared his thoughts on next gen consoles during a speech at the Asia Online Game Conference 2006 in Tokyo. In his speech, Matsuhara offered his opinion on the Nintendo Revolution.
Matsuhara seemed to express some disappointment in respect to Nintendo's choice to use flash memory instead of a hard disk. His biggest concern with this format is of course the lack of available space noting that "a full 3D MMORPG (massively multiplayer Online RPG) may not fit."
In order to be successful in the next gen gaming, online features are becoming increasingly important. Regarding Nintendo's online plan, Matsuhara suggested that the DS Online plan could be a possible hint at what we can expect from the Nintendo Revolution.
By comparison, the Xbox 360 has a 20GB hard drive which is shipped with the more expensive premium bundles
Considering we no next to nothing about the games being developed for the Revolution, the issues of Flash Memory remains to be seen. If there is an issue with available space, perhaps Nintendo will offer an external memory solution, or opt to change the flash format all together?
Hopefully, by The E3 in May, all of these questions will be answered.
